What is the difference between the professional and premium editions of Dragon?
The Professional edition has more features than the Premium edition, including an enhanced capacity for customisation. The Professional edition's powerful customisation (ie macro) facility increases the number of tasks that can be done by voice, reducing use of the keyboard and mouse. For this reason, the Professional edition is recommended for use in the workplace, and for those with a health condition or disability who need to work as much as possible by voice.
For those able to do some tasks by hand and using the software mainly to dictate text, the Premium edition will be suitable. For more information, see the Feature Matrix.

Dragon software - end user licence agreement
Can I use Dragon naturally speaking 12 on more than one computer?
Under the Grant of License:
Dragon 12 Home and Premium for home use:
- Can be installed on ONE computer and used by multiple people
- Can be installed on an additional computer at the same address for BACKUP
- Any other computers require a separate licensed copy
- Cannot be used for the transcription of audio files for multiple users
Education Institutions using Premium, Professional and Legal Academic Editions of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12:
- Can use multiple voice profiles per machine
- Cannot be installed on portable machines NOT owned by the licensee
Dragon 12 Professional and Legal:
A single licence is for one person. The License Agreement allows you to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking® Professional edition software on more than one computer, providing you are the principal user. You could legitimately use Dragon Professional on a work desktop, work laptop, home desktop and home laptop.
- A licensed user can create multiple voice profiles on multiple machines
- A seperate license must be purchased for each user (even if machines are shared)
- Third party can use the software purely for transcription

Does Dragon work on Mac computers?
DragonDictate 4 is available for MAC computers.

There is the option of loading Windows on your Mac. You would need to load an application, either Parallels or Boot Camp, that would enable you to load a Windows operating system on your Mac, then install Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It will only be possible to use Dragon on Windows, not on the MAC side, so you wouldn't be able to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking to dictate into MAC applications.
Dragon Apps - can I use Dragon on a smartphone or iPad?

- The Dragon Dictation App allows you to dictate text, which can then be sent by SMS or email, or copied to Notes or any other location. Recognition errors can be edited using the on-screen keyboard. Recognition accuracy will not be as high as when using Desktop Dragon (i.e. Dragon NaturallySpeaking or Dragon Dictate on a computer).
- Dragon Search allows you to search online content by voice.
- Dragon Recorder allows you to record speech, which can then be transferred to your computer and transcribed into text, using Desktop Dragon (either Dragon NaturallySpeaking for PC, or DragonDictate for Mac).
- Andrea PureAudio Live Recorder is available through iTunes, and is another App for recording speech, which can be transcribed into text using Dragon on your computer.
- Dragon Remote Microphone app allows you to use your wireless device as a wireless microphone, when using Dragon on your computer. This could be useful when travelling, if you don't have a microphone with you.
